This week’s task is to personalize the sample text message below by filling in the blanks with your own story. Once you’ve made it your own, please send the message to at least 20 people. We’ve included a text example for patients and one for advocates.
Text messages are a quick and effective way to share your story and engage others in helping spread the word. Please review the instructions for this week’s activity below:

- Please use the sample text message and fill in the blanks with your own information.
- Send the text message to 20 people of your choosing. This will help you spread the word about your story, and keep your family and friend updated on your progress.
- Below, you will find an example text message script, but you will need to edit it to make it your OWN. This means that you should change the information to fit your OWN story, and should sound like you.
- We’ve included one text example for patients and another for advocates.
Example Text Message – PATIENT
Hello,
I wanted to personally thank you for the support you’ve shown me in my search for a living kidney donor. Whether you’ve shared my story or considered being my donor, it means the world to me. I know the process takes time, and I truly appreciate you being part of my journey.
Unfortunately, it’s been a few months, and I still don’t have any news about finding a donor. But I’m staying hopeful, and with the support of my close family and friends, I’m doing everything I can.
Can I ask for your help again in spreading the word? The more people I reach, the better chance I have of finding that one person who could save my life. Would you be willing to share my website [YOUR GIFTWORKS SITE] and continue to share my social media posts? I truly believe my donor is out there, and your help could make all the difference.
A transplant would allow me to [X – e.g., “spend more time with my family,” “pursue my dreams,” “live without dialysis,” etc.]. I remain optimistic and hope for good news, soon.
